Shehbaz Set for Smooth Victory in PM Vote

As the political landscape in Pakistan awaits the emergence of its new prime minister, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif stands on the cusp of assuming the position, amidst lingering rigging allegations that have cast a shadow over the recent general elections.

Efforts to bridge the divide between former allies, the PML-N and the JUI-F, have proven futile, with Maulana Fazlur Rehman opting to stay out of the fray by embarking on a visit to Karachi.

Meanwhile, the PTI has protested against alleged election irregularities, with its candidate for prime minister, Omar Ayub Khan, submitting nomination papers and raising objections against Shehbaz’s candidacy, citing electoral manipulation.

Despite these tensions, the PTI has decided not to concede the political arena and has aligned with the SIC, ensuring a competitive landscape for the formation of the government.

With a clear majority in the National Assembly, the newly-formed ruling alliance is poised to secure victory in the upcoming prime ministerial election. The election process, governed by stringent rules, will unfold with a single-minded determination to ensure the legitimacy of the new government.

As the votes are tallied, Shehbaz Sharif is expected to emerge victorious, marking a full circle in Pakistan’s political narrative and reaffirming his position as the country’s leader. His previous stint as prime minister, following the ousting of Imran Khan in 2022, adds to the anticipation surrounding his return to power.
