President Zardari Bestows Nishan-i-Pakistan upon Saudi Defense Minister

President Asif Ali Zardari bestowed the prestigious Nishan-i-Pakistan award upon Saudi Arabian Minister for Defence, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, during a special investiture ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Saturday. The event saw the presence of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, federal ministers, top military officials, and members of the diplomatic community.

 

The Nishan-i-Pakistan award was granted to Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud in acknowledgment of his commendable services to Pakistan and its people. His efforts in enhancing defence cooperation, bolstering bilateral relations, and contributing to peace initiatives in the region were recognized and appreciated.

Prior to the investiture ceremony, the distinguished guest attended the Pakistan Day military parade held at the Shakarpariyan ground in Islamabad. The parade was a symbol of national pride and showcased the military strength of Pakistan.

The entire nation is filled with fervor and patriotism as Pakistan Day is celebrated today, commemorating the historic Lahore Resolution of 1940. This day holds great significance in the history of Pakistan as it reaffirms the commitment to the country’s development, stability, and unity.

Pakistan Day marks the adoption of the Lahore Resolution in 1940, which laid the foundation for the creation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of South Asia. It serves as a reminder of the aspirations and struggles of the people for independence and sovereignty.
