PTA and FIA Raid Illegal Internet Service Provider in Toba Tek Singh

In a collaborative effort to curb the proliferation of illegal internet service providers, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office Faisalabad, in coordination with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, conducted a successful raid against an unlicensed internet service provider in Toba Tek Singh.

The targeted illegal internet service provider was operating without a valid license from the PTA. The raid resulted in the confiscation of operational internet setup, including essential equipment such as switches, routers, ONT, and an illegal tower with 12 dish antennas. Additionally, during the operation, one individual was apprehended by the FIA and taken into custody for further investigation.

The PTA emphasized that the success in combating illegal internet service providers is attributed to the authority’s unwavering commitment, continuous monitoring efforts, and persistent actions against unauthorized operators. These endeavors are crucial in preventing tax evasion and revenue misreporting, thereby reducing losses to the national exchequer.

The telecom regulator issued a public appeal, urging individuals to avail telecom services only from PTA-licensed operators to avoid sudden discontinuation of services. A list of licensed operators is made available to the public to facilitate informed choices and contribute to the overall integrity of the telecommunication landscape.
