In a noteworthy development, a delegation from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) engaged in discussions with leaders of the Jamaat-e-Islami party. Both parties expressed their shared concerns regarding alleged rigging in the recent general elections and jointly declared their intention to protest against the perceived irregularities.
After the meeting, PTI leader and former Speaker of the National Assembly, Asad Qaiser, addressed the media, highlighting the singular focus of the two parties – to protest what they deemed as “rigged” elections.
Qaiser underscored the unprecedented level of rigging alleged in this election, emphasizing the need for collective action among parties that have raised their voices against it. He announced plans to meet with all parties opposing the alleged rigging, emphasizing that decisions would be made collectively, and legal action would be pursued in the face of what he sees as a country moving towards instability.

The PTI leader declared a nationwide protest scheduled for Saturday, urging people to participate in a peaceful demonstration. Qaiser reiterated the commitment to strengthening democracy and assured that the struggle against alleged rigging would persist.
Speaking on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami, Liaquat Baloch welcomed the PTI delegation and reiterated their shared stance against the election results, promptly rejected after the February 8 polls. Baloch called for the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner, asserting that the situation had become clearer after the PTI delegation’s arrival.
He stated that the coordination between the two parties would continue, with efforts to involve other parties sharing concerns about alleged election rigging. Baloch also highlighted the party’s appeal to the Supreme Court for intervention in the matter.
“We have discussed all aspects, and it is the responsibility of political powers to ensure that Pakistan’s elections are free from state interference. Jamaat-e-Islami has clarified its policy and strategy,” said Baloch.
