Quetta's 'Buddy Bear' from Germany Relocated to Secure Location: Quetta DC

The Deputy Commissioner of Quetta has confirmed that ‘Buddy Bear’ has been relocated to a secure location following the theft of the protective forest surrounding it. Investigations are underway from various angles to apprehend the perpetrators, and assurances have been made that ‘Buddy Bear’ will be reinstated soon, with additional surveillance cameras to safeguard the area.

Previously, ‘Buddy Bear’ was installed in Quetta as a symbol of the strong bilateral relations between Pakistan and Germany. In honor of this bond, a street in Quetta was renamed ‘Berlin Quetta Friendship Square’.

German Consul General in Karachi, Rudiger Lotz, expressed pride in the installation of the Buddy Bear, highlighting its significance as a symbol of peace, friendship, and cooperation. He emphasized the importance of ‘Buddy Bear’ becoming a part of Quetta city. It’s worth noting that ‘Buddy Bear’ statues are globally recognized, with approximately 16,000 installations worldwide.
