Rizwan Equals Most Sixes Record for Pakistan in T20Is

In the initial T20I clash against New Zealand, Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan’s vice-captain and wicketkeeper-batsman, accomplished a significant feat by matching the sixes record set by former captain Mohammad Hafeez.

Having participated in 86 T20I matches, Rizwan equaled Hafeez’s tally of 76 sixes during Pakistan’s pursuit of a challenging 227-run target. This remarkable achievement unfolded as Rizwan scored 25 runs off 14 balls, and the six that brought him level with Hafeez’s record covered a distance of 50 meters.

The shared distinction of being Pakistani batters with the highest number of sixes in T20Is underscores Rizwan and Hafeez’s impact on the team’s batting lineup. This achievement surpasses the renowned all-rounder Shahid Afridi’s record of 73 sixes during his T20I career.

Despite their individual accomplishments, Pakistan faced a formidable challenge in the match, conceding the highest number of runs in T20I history – 226 runs. The team’s response fell short, with Pakistan managing 180 all out in their allotted 18 overs.

The Green Shirts’ struggle to chase down the imposing target highlighted the difficulty posed by New Zealand’s formidable total. In this high-scoring encounter, Babar Azam emerged as a lone bright spot for Pakistan, contributing a valiant 57 runs. However, his efforts were not sufficient to overcome the challenging target set by New Zealand in the first T20I of the series.
