Shaheen Afridi Shocks David Warner

David Warner, the opening batsman for Australia, commended Pakistan’s exceptional bowling prowess at the conclusion of the initial day’s play in Melbourne.

In discussions with the local media following the day’s events, Warner expressed his admiration for Pakistan’s strategic tactics and lauded their impressive bowling performance.

“Speed isn’t the sole factor; precision in ball placement is pivotal. Pakistan displayed exceptional bowling today,” emphasized Warner.

He further noted, “I was genuinely taken aback by the number of overs Shaheen Afridi managed today. It was a grueling day for him. In Australia, bowling isn’t solely about pace; it’s about hitting the right spots. The Pakistani pacers were exceptional. Despite the lack of fortune, Shaheen delivered admirably.”

A key moment saw Warner receiving a lifeline when Abdullah Shafique dropped him at just 2 runs; the bowler, Shaheen Afridi, narrowly missed the chance. Shaheen’s 20 overs constituted approximately one-third of Pakistan’s bowling for the day.

However, Warner faced a setback just before lunch, losing his wicket to Agha Salman after a lapse in judgment resulted in a slip catch, taken skillfully by Babar Azam.

On the flip side, the Green Shirts won the toss and opted to field first. Rain interruptions led to the home side finishing the day at 187 for 3 wickets in 66 overs, marking the conclusion of the day’s play.
