Tendulkar Praises Mohammed Siraj for Match-Winning Spells Against England

Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has praised pacer Mohammed Siraj for his outstanding performance in the recent Test series against England. The five-match series ended in a 2-2 draw, but Siraj’s efforts stood out throughout the contest.

Siraj picked up 23 wickets in nine innings, the highest across both teams in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. His average of 32.43 reflected both consistency and impact. Tendulkar said Siraj “doesn’t get the credit he deserves” and highlighted his relentless energy and courage.

“Unbelievable. Superb approach. I love his attitude,” Tendulkar said in an interview. “No batsman likes a bowler who is always in your face. Siraj has that fire.”

The 30-year-old from Hyderabad played all five Tests, underlining his fitness and commitment. Even India’s lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah was rotated, but Siraj stayed in the playing XI throughout.

His best spell came in the final Test’s second innings. He claimed a brilliant five-wicket haul that helped India secure a dramatic six-run win – their narrowest in Test history.

Siraj was named Player of the Match for his performance. Shubman Gill, the Indian captain, received the Player of the Series award.

Tendulkar also admired Siraj’s intensity late in the series. “To bowl at 145 kph on the final day, after over 1000 deliveries, shows his big heart,” Tendulkar said. “When India needed a breakthrough, Siraj delivered.”

Siraj has often been overshadowed by stars like Bumrah and Ashwin. But this series showed his true value to the team. His bounce, aggression, and stamina make him a key part of India’s attack.

Tendulkar’s words carry weight, and his support could help Siraj get more recognition. From a backup bowler in 2020 to now leading the pace unit, Siraj’s rise is impressive.

With tough tours ahead, including Australia next year, Siraj’s role will be crucial. And if he keeps performing with the same heart, as Tendulkar noted, his place among top pacers is just a matter of time.
