Gilgit-Baltistan Hosts Exciting Jashn-e-Pakistan Polo Tournament

Gilgit-Baltistan recently hosted the largest polo event in the northern regions, the Jashn-e-Pakistan Polo Tournament. This ten-day event, organized by the Force Commander Northern Area, was held at the Wahab Shaheed Polo Ground in Gilgit.

The tournament featured fifteen teams, including newcomers from Chitral. Previously, Gilgit-Baltistan teams mainly competed at the high-altitude Shandur field.

The NLI team won the final against GB Scouts A in front of a crowd of over 40,000 spectators, including a significant number of women.

Matches were played under artificial lighting, enhancing the experience for attendees. The closing ceremony was attended by the Force Commander FC NA and the CM GB as chief guests.

Local residents praised the Pakistan Army for providing dedicated spaces for women and children, highlighting the event’s role in celebrating the region’s polo heritage and fostering community engagement.
