Josh Inglis and Cameron Green Lead Australia to T20 Victory

Josh Inglis, Green Power Australia to T20 Win

Australia secured a dominant eight-wicket win over the West Indies in the second T20 match in Jamaica. Josh Inglis and Cameron Green were the stars of the show, guiding their team to a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

West Indies batted first and posted a competitive total of 172-8. Brandon King gave the hosts a strong start with a quick 51 from 36 balls. He reached his half-century in just 33 deliveries, helping West Indies reach 59-0 by the seventh over.

However, Australia’s spinners quickly turned the match in their favor. Adam Zampa led the bowling attack with 3-29 in four overs. Glenn Maxwell also played a key role, taking 2-15 in his two-over spell.

Zampa broke the opening stand in the eighth over by dismissing King. On the very next ball, Maxwell removed Shai Hope with a sharp catch from Mitch Marsh. West Indies then lost wickets at regular intervals.

Shimron Hetmyer was caught at the boundary for 14, while Roston Chase and Sherfane Rutherford fell in quick succession during Zampa’s third over. At 98-5, the hosts were in trouble.

Andre Russell gave the crowd something to cheer about with a powerful 36 off 15 balls. He smashed four sixes and two fours in what was likely his final international appearance.

Chasing 173, Australia reshuffled their batting order. Glenn Maxwell opened but made only 12 off 10 balls. Captain Mitch Marsh scored 21 before falling in the sixth over, leaving Australia at 42-2.

Josh Inglis and Cameron Green then took control of the match. They put together an unbeaten 131-run partnership in just 64 balls. Inglis reached his fifty in 22 balls and finished with 78* from 33 balls, including five sixes and seven fours.

Green supported brilliantly with 56 not out from 32 balls. He hit four sixes and three boundaries. Australia chased down the target in only 15.2 overs, with 28 balls to spare.

Their powerful display with the bat ensured Australia’s second straight win in the series, putting them in a strong position moving forward.
