Four Dead After Tesla's Electric Car Catches Fire In France

Four individuals were killed in western France late Saturday when a Tesla electric car caught fire for reasons still unknown, prosecutors reported on Sunday.

The incident occurred near Niort and claimed the lives of the driver and three restaurant employees from nearby Melle, according to a police source.

A local judge informed AFP that an investigation has been launched to ascertain the causes and circumstances surrounding the fatal accident, which will include a technical examination of the vehicle.

Preliminary reports indicate that the car struck multiple road signs at high speed, and the passengers were already deceased when rescuers arrived at the scene.

Tesla, founded by billionaire CEO Elon Musk, has faced ongoing scrutiny regarding safety concerns.
