Weather Department's Good News for Karachi

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) provided insights into Karachi’s weather forecast, indicating a welcome decrease in temperature starting from Friday. Residents, who endured sweltering conditions with temperatures reaching 38.2°C, can expect relief as sea breezes are anticipated to lower the mercury to a range of 34°C to 36°C.

Despite the reduction in temperature, Karachi’s weather is predicted to remain hot and humid, aligning with the broader forecast for most parts of the country. Continental air prevailing over the region suggests dry weather for many areas, although a shallow westerly wave expected to enter western Balochistan may impact upper regions by May 3rd.

The arrival of this westerly wave brings the possibility of rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms to various regions, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), northern Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan (GB), Kashmir, and the Pothohar region. Additionally, gusty winds and windstorms may affect southern Punjab and northern Sindh during Friday evening and night.

While Karachi experienced the highest maximum temperature today, other areas in Sindh, such as Mithi, recorded temperatures as high as 42°C, along with Sukkur, Jacobabad, Dadu, and Lasbella, where temperatures reached 41°C.

Overall, the forecast provides valuable insights for residents and authorities to prepare for the changing weather conditions and potential impacts across various regions of Pakistan.
