Germany to Increase Weapons Supply to Israel, Denies Embargo Claims

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has firmly denied claims that c has halted arms exports to Israel, stating that his government has continued to deliver weapons and will send more defense equipment soon. Scholz’s comments came in response to accusations from conservative opposition leader Friedrich Merz, who argued that the government had been delaying approvals for arms exports, including spare parts and ammunition for tanks.

Scholz’s position contrasts with that of French President Emmanuel Macron, who suggested an arms embargo related to the conflict in Gaza. Despite this, Scholz reiterated Germany’s ongoing support for Israel, underscoring that the weapons deliveries would adhere to international humanitarian law.
