Israel and Lebanon are reportedly on the verge of finalizing a ceasefire deal, with a cabinet meeting scheduled in Israel to approve the terms. A senior Lebanese official confirmed that Washington has indicated the deal could be announced within hours. The agreement aims to end hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel, which have intensified over the past two months.

The deal, proposed by the United States, includes an Israeli military withdrawal from southern Lebanon, with Lebanese army troops expected to deploy in the region within 60 days. A five-nation committee, including France and chaired by the United States, will monitor the ceasefire’s implementation. Key issues, such as the sequencing of troop withdrawals and the return of displaced Lebanese citizens, have been resolved.
Despite the diplomatic progress, hostilities have continued, with Israel carrying out airstrikes on Hezbollah-controlled areas, and Hezbollah launching a large rocket salvo. Both sides are reportedly committed to the ceasefire, and officials are hopeful that an agreement could be reached soon.
As negotiations continue, the world watches closely, with the US playing a central role in facilitating the discussions and pushing for peace.
