Pakistan Condemns Bihar CM for Disrespecting Woman’s Hijab at Official Event

Pakistan has strongly condemned an incident in India’s Bihar state involving the alleged disrespect of a Muslim woman’s hijab during an official event. The reaction came after a video surfaced from an appointment letter distribution ceremony, where the Chief Minister of Bihar was seen attempting to remove the veil of a female doctor.

Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari expressed deep concern over the incident. He said Pakistan views the act as a serious violation of human dignity and religious freedom. According to him, forcing a woman to remove her veil in public is unacceptable under any circumstances.

The incident reportedly involved Dr. Nusrat Parveen, a female doctor attending the ceremony to receive her appointment letter. During the event, the Chief Minister allegedly made a gesture toward removing her hijab. The moment was captured on camera and later circulated widely on social media. The footage sparked criticism and debate across the region.

Awais Leghari stated that Pakistan strongly denounces such behavior. He said religious freedom is a basic human right that must be respected everywhere. He added that humiliating a woman in public, especially over her religious identity, reflects a troubling mindset.

The minister further said that treating the incident lightly or as a joke is deeply regrettable. He warned that such actions point to a growing pattern of intolerance toward Muslim women in India. According to him, these trends raise serious concerns for minority rights and social harmony.

Pakistan also expressed full solidarity with Dr. Nusrat Parveen. Awais Leghari said the government stands with her and all women who face discrimination based on faith or appearance. He emphasized that respect for diversity is essential in any democratic society.

He demanded that the Chief Minister of Bihar issue an unconditional public apology. He stressed that accountability is necessary to prevent similar incidents in the future. He also said that violations of religious freedom are not just domestic issues but global concerns.

Pakistan urged the international community to take note of such incidents. Officials believe that silence on these matters can encourage further violations. They called for stronger global commitment to protecting religious and personal freedoms.

The statement concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s position on human rights. The country, officials said, will continue to raise its voice against discrimination and injustice wherever it occurs.
