Young Tennis Player Zainab Ali Naqvi Passes Away At the Age of 17

Zainab Ali Naqvi, a promising young talent in Pakistani tennis, tragically passed away on Monday night during her participation in the ITF Juniors event in Islamabad.

Reports indicate that the 17-year-old athlete was found deceased in the bathroom of her home approximately 30 minutes after returning from her match at the ITF Juniors event.

Zainab had been actively engaged in tennis since the age of 9, primarily focusing on the singles category and preferring hard court playing surfaces that suited her style and strengths.

In November 2022, she competed in the ITF Pakistan Junior Tennis Championships, facing opponents like Kazakhstan’s Zhansaya Bakytzhan and India’s Thaniya Sarai.

Naqvi achieved a significant milestone in her career by winning the Karachi ATF 14 and under Super Tennis Series Championships at Karachi Gymkhana in 2014, securing her first title in the girls’ singles category after a closely contested final against Varsha Das.

Leaders within the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), including President Aisam Ul Haq Qureshi, former PTF President and Senator Salim Saifullah Khan, along with PTF Council Members and the broader Pakistani tennis community, offer their heartfelt condolences to Zainab’s grieving family.

The premature loss of Zainab Ali Naqvi has deeply saddened the tennis community, leaving a lasting impact on those who followed her journey.
