A viral hair-cutting video from Rawalpindi has sparked outrage on social media. The footage shows a woman having her hair forcibly cut at a massage center, while others, including another woman, stand nearby.
Initially, the Federal Police conducted a preliminary investigation. However, since the incident occurred in Rawalpindi, the matter was referred to the local police for further action. Chief Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Khalid Hamdani formed a dedicated team to investigate and directed authorities to act in accordance with the law.
Police reports revealed the incident took place near the Christian Colony, close to Pani Wali Tanki. A case has been registered under sections 337(V) and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, with DFCO Asad Hussain acting as the complainant.
The victim has been identified as Iman Fatima, daughter of Muhammad Ibrahim, a resident of Dhoke Khabba, Rawalpindi. The alleged suspects include Nazar Khan alias Arman, Muhammad Anis alias Durani, Jaleel Khan alias Mithu, Jabbar Khan, and other unidentified individuals.
According to police, the suspects not only forcibly cut Iman Fatima’s hair but also recorded the act and circulated it on social media. In her video statement, the victim accused four to five boys and four girls, including a girl named Sana, of participating in the misconduct.
This viral hair-cutting incident has drawn widespread condemnation, with many calling for strict legal action against the perpetrators. Authorities have assured that the investigation is ongoing and that justice will be served.
The case follows similar recent incidents where social media played a role in exposing misconduct. For instance, a police constable in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) was suspended after a video went viral showing him thrashing an allegedly intoxicated woman.
The Rawalpindi police have urged the public to provide information to help identify all suspects involved in the viral hair-cutting case, highlighting the role of community support in ensuring justice.
