ISLAMABAD – The Adiala superintendent has firmly denied claims that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan was managing his X account from inside Adiala Jail.
In a report submitted to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) regarding a petition seeking to restrict alleged online activity, the Adiala superintendent clarified that Khan remained under strict surveillance and had no access to devices capable of connecting to the internet.
The superintendent highlighted that Khan and the staff assigned to him were regularly searched. No prohibited items, including mobile phones, were ever found. Mobile signal jammers installed across the facility block signals in the jail and surrounding areas, making it impossible for any online account to be operated from within the prison.
Refuting allegations of digital activity originating from Adiala, the superintendent stated that Khan’s X account was managed externally by individuals not linked to the jail. The former premier was only provided facilities allowed under jail regulations or as permitted by court orders.
The clarification comes as the IHC hears a petition requesting the removal of posts allegedly made by Khan while in custody and seeking to restrain further dissemination of such content. The petitioner argued that any online activity from Khan’s account could incite public unrest and threaten public order.
Last year, PTI leader Raoof Hasan claimed that Khan’s official X account was operated from the United States, where the party’s social media team is based. The Adiala superintendent emphasized that no such activity occurred from inside the jail, ensuring that security and regulations were strictly followed.

Officials at Adiala Jail stressed that all procedures are in place to maintain lawful custody and monitor inmates effectively. The report from the Adiala superintendent aims to clarify the situation and assure the court that Khan’s online activities were fully controlled externally.
