The Directorate of Immigration and Passports has simplified the process for citizens by allowing Pakistan passport online application through its e-Services Portal. The move aims to reduce long queues and make passport services more accessible.
The Passport Department shared a video on social media explaining that applicants can visit the official website, www.onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk, to submit a Pakistan passport online application. Existing users can log in using their registered account, while new users must register by providing accurate details, including a valid mobile number and email address.
During registration, applicants must enter a verification code, click โNextโ, and then confirm their email through a verification link. Once registration is complete, users can log in and proceed with their application.
The online system allows citizens to submit new applications or renewals. For passport renewal through the portal, the passport must have less than one year of validity remaining. However, major changes, such as updating a name or occupation, are not allowed online.
Applicants can select their nearest passport office from a drop-down menu, making it easier to visit if an in-person appointment is required. The system also guides users on the type of photograph needed for both men and women. Uploaded files must not exceed 1 MB and must be in PNG, JPG, or JPEG formats.
Officials emphasized that the Pakistan passport online application is part of efforts to modernize services and provide convenience for citizens nationwide. Users are encouraged to carefully follow the instructions to avoid delays.
This new online process marks a significant step toward digitizing government services, ensuring faster and more efficient passport issuance while reducing the burden on physical offices.
