Vin Diesel Confirms Sequel To The Last Witch Hunter Is Coming

Vin Diesel has officially confirmed that The Last Witch Hunter 2 is in development. Sharing a post on Instagram, Diesel revealed the script’s cover and first page, along with the sequel’s title: Kaulder the Immortal – The Lion’s Oath. He added a cryptic hint about the storyline: “Some debts take centuries to pay.”

The original film, The Last Witch Hunter, released in 2015, combined action and fantasy. Directed by Breck Eisner and written by Cory Goodman, Matt Sazama, and Burk Sharpless, it starred Diesel alongside Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood, Michael Caine, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, and Julie Engelbrecht. The story follows Kaulder, an immortal witch hunter cursed to live forever, as he battles witches in the modern world.

Despite its strong cast and Diesel’s passion for the project—it was inspired by his own Dungeons & Dragons campaigns—the first movie underperformed at the box office, earning $146.9 million, and received an 18% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, streaming audiences have recently rediscovered the film, generating renewed interest and paving the way for The Last Witch Hunter 2.

Michael Caine is set to return from retirement for the sequel. His character, Dolan, the 36th priest assigned to aid Kaulder in monitoring witches, will play a pivotal role in the new storyline. Early hints suggest Kaulder will interact with a younger version of Dolan, adding layers to the narrative.

Vin Diesel has long expressed a desire to continue Kaulder’s story, and Lionsgate confirmed the project following the film’s streaming success. Fans can expect the sequel to expand the mystical universe of witches and immortals while delivering the high-octane action that defined the original.

With The Last Witch Hunter 2 officially underway, audiences now have the chance to revisit Kaulder’s world and see how Diesel’s immortal character faces new threats, ancient debts, and exciting adventures in the upcoming fantasy action saga.
