Google has released its Year in Search 2025 report, offering a detailed look at the Most-Searched Trends that shaped online behaviour this year. The list reflects what people explored, questioned, and followed the most, with topics ranging from cricket and dramas to AI tools, recipes, and how-to guides. The Most-Searched Trends showcase a strong mix of entertainment, technology, and real-time information needs.
Cricket once again dominated online interest. Major matches and tournaments remained at the centre of digital activity, with searches rising for clashes against South Africa, India, and New Zealand. The Pakistan Super League, Asia Cup, and ICC Champions Trophy ranked among the top tournaments, highlighting the sport’s unmatched popularity. Players such as Abhishek Sharma, Hassan Nawaz, and Irfan Khan Niazi also appeared frequently in the Most-Searched Trends, reflecting growing excitement around emerging talent.
Drama serials kept audiences equally engaged. Viewers continued following local favourites like “Sher,” “Judwaa,” and “Aas Paas,” with these shows becoming some of the most-searched entertainment options of the year.
Interest in technology rose sharply. Searches for AI tools such as Gemini, On4t, and Google AI Studio increased as people explored new digital tools. Streaming apps like myco and Tamasha also trended due to constant cricket viewership. Topics like non-fungible tokens showed a rising curiosity about digital innovation.
People also turned to Google for timely updates. Searches spiked during major events such as the Karachi floods and Chenab River flooding, as users looked for alerts and safety guidance. Government initiatives, including the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry, Asaan Karobar Card, and the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme 2025, also ranked high.
Food-related queries remained diverse. Traditional dishes like mutton, beef, sweets, and soups remained popular, while interest in quinoa, tofu, and sandwiches suggested a shift toward healthier choices. Karachi’s new e-challan system led the how-to category, as users tried to understand the new traffic rules.
Farhan Qureshi, Google’s Regional Director for Business and Operations, said the Year in Search reflects a population that is “curious, creative, and digital-first,” using online tools to learn new skills and stay connected.
