The Sindh government has approved a historic development package of Rs9.28 billion aimed at improving infrastructure in Karachi’s industrial areas. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon described the move as a timely effort to strengthen the city as a competitive industrial hub.
Development work on key industrial infrastructure is set to begin from Monday. The projects are expected to be completed within six months. Funds for these initiatives will come from the Infrastructure Development Cess, collected from industrial contributions.
Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that funds will be distributed across various industrial areas based on need and priority. He emphasized that the government is committed to maintaining quality, speed, and transparency throughout the development process.
To ensure proper implementation, a supervisory committee will closely monitor all projects. Following the completion of the first phase, a second major development package will be introduced for other industrial areas in Sindh.
The restoration and improvement of industrial infrastructure are expected to enhance transport and logistics, reduce business costs, and increase investor confidence in Karachi’s industrial sector. Officials hope that upgraded infrastructure will also support long-term economic growth in the region.
The initiative is being welcomed by local businesses and industrialists, who view it as a step toward revitalizing Karachi’s industrial zones. The development package is considered a practical approach to boosting productivity and competitiveness while ensuring equitable distribution of resources across different areas.
With careful planning and monitoring, Sindh’s government aims to create modern, efficient, and sustainable industrial areas that can attract investment and support economic growth for years to come.
