Parliament House Incident: Cockroach Found in Senator’s Meal

A cockroach found crawling on Senator Waqar Mehdi’s plate of sandwiches and samosas during a Senate committee meeting has raised concerns over hygiene in the Parliament House. The People’s Party senator expressed shock at the sight, calling attention to unsanitary conditions.

Senator Mehdi said this is the third time a cockroach found incident has occurred during his visits. He emphasized that cockroaches are seen across the Parliament House, including plates, tables, and office files.

The senator had previously written to the Senate Secretariat about the growing problem of cockroaches and poor sanitary conditions in the building. Despite his complaints, the issue appears unresolved, prompting him to raise it publicly during the committee session.

Chairman of the committee, Senator Saifullah Abro, took stern notice of the complaint and assured that measures would be taken to investigate and improve hygiene standards. The chairman’s response indicates that Parliament authorities may now prioritize cleanliness in office and dining areas.

Officials note that cockroaches found in such settings can pose health risks and reflect poorly on institutional maintenance.
Experts suggest that regular pest control and stricter sanitation protocols are necessary to prevent recurrence.

Senator Mehdi’s complaint has sparked reactions from other lawmakers, many of whom highlighted the need for urgent improvements in Parliament House sanitation. The incident also raises questions about the frequency of inspections and maintenance of communal areas where lawmakers dine or work.

Public concern is likely to increase, as images and reports of the cockroach found incident circulate on social media. Authorities are expected to respond quickly to avoid negative attention and ensure a hygienic environment for senators and staff.

This episode underscores the importance of cleanliness in public institutions and the need for effective measures to control pests and maintain health standards in government offices.
