Snowfall in northern Pakistan has intensified the winter chill, covering the hills and mountains in a thick layer of white. Tourists visiting Murree and the Galiyat region enjoyed the fresh snow, capturing scenic views of the “Queen of the Hills.”
Authorities reported significant snowfall across upper regions. The Lowari Tunnel saw snow accumulation of 1.5 to 2 feet, while Chitral recorded 28 inches. Several areas in Astore received up to two feet of snow, and mountains in Chilas and Upper Dir also turned white.
In Battagram, heavy snowfall caused the closure of link roads, disrupting travel. Meanwhile, Neelum Valley in Azad Kashmir experienced its third consecutive day of snow, attracting more tourists to the Arang Kel chairlift. Access roads to several tourist spots remain closed due to the continuous snow. Light rain was observed in Muzaffarabad and surrounding areas.
Balochistan faced a cold wave, with Ziarat reporting a minimum temperature of minus four degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, intermittent rainfall occurred in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, adding to the chilly conditions. Lahore also felt the impact of winter, with cloudy skies and icy winds further lowering temperatures.
Officials have advised travelers to exercise caution while visiting snow-affected areas. Roads may remain slippery and unsafe in some regions until the snowfall eases and proper clearance measures are taken. Tourists are urged to monitor weather updates and follow safety instructions issued by local authorities.
