Pakistan Air Force Achieves Milestone with Successful 'Taimoor' Missile Launch

LAHORE – The Pakistan Air Force has successfully conducted a flight test of the indigenously developed Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile. The test marks another key step in strengthening Pakistan’s conventional defence capabilities. The military’s media wing confirmed the development on Saturday.

According to officials, the missile demonstrated high accuracy during the test. The Taimoor weapon system can strike both land and sea targets. It has an operational range of up to 600 kilometres. The missile carries a conventional warhead and is designed for precision-strike missions.

The successful trial reflects growing technical progress in Pakistan’s defence sector. Officials said it highlights the country’s focus on indigenous military solutions. The development also shows increased reliance on local expertise and technology.

Military sources explained that the missile uses an advanced navigation and guidance system. This system allows it to fly at very low altitudes. Low-altitude flight helps the missile avoid detection. It can also evade enemy air and missile defence systems more effectively.

The weapon system is expected to enhance operational flexibility. Officials said it strengthens the Pakistan Air Force’s strike capabilities. It also improves the country’s conventional deterrence posture. The missile adds depth to air-launched combat options.

Senior officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces witnessed the test. Leading scientists and engineers involved in the project were also present. Their participation highlighted the joint effort behind the achievement.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu congratulated the teams involved. He praised their professionalism and dedication. He called the test a significant milestone for national defence. He also appreciated the role of scientists and engineers in achieving the goal.

The Air Chief said such achievements reflect Pakistan’s resolve for self-reliance. He stressed the importance of technological independence. He noted that regional security challenges continue to evolve. Indigenous development remains a key priority.

He added that the successful test shows the Pakistan Air Force’s focus on readiness. It also demonstrates its pursuit of modern warfare capabilities. The Air Chief reaffirmed commitment to national security objectives.

Defence officials said the Taimoor missile will play a vital role in future operations. It supports precision targeting needs. It also improves response options during complex scenarios.
