The Hyderabad High Court Bar Association has refused to allow CM Afridi to address its members. The decision comes as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister was scheduled to visit Hyderabad on Saturday.
Hyderabad High Court Bar Association President Advocate Ishrat Lohar issued a formal letter denying CM Afridi permission to speak. The letter stated that 11 members opposed the address, while only one member supported it.
Earlier, the General Secretary of the Bar had sent a personal letter granting permission for CM Afridi to address the members. However, the President clarified that the approval was not official and could not be honored.
CM Afridi is set to arrive in Hyderabad tomorrow. During his visit, he will participate in various official events and also lead a rally for supporters. The Bar Association’s decision sparked discussions among legal circles about protocol and member rights.
Officials said the Bar Association’s refusal was based on internal procedures and personal grounds cited by its leadership. No additional reasons were publicly disclosed. Observers note that this move highlights the ongoing sensitivity in interactions between political figures and professional associations in the city.
Supporters of CM Afridi expressed disappointment at the Bar Association’s decision. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s team confirmed that the scheduled events and rally will proceed as planned, despite the restriction on addressing the Bar members.
The situation underscores the careful balance required when political leaders interact with professional bodies. CM Afridi’s visit to Hyderabad remains highly anticipated, with citizens and party supporters keen to hear from the Chief Minister during public events and the rally.
