A forensic report by the Punjab Forensic Science Agency has confirmed the presence of several senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders during the May 9 incidents in Peshawar. The analysis included video verification of footage submitted to Peshawarโs Sharki police station.
According to the forensic report, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, along with Kamran Bangash, Taimur Saleem Jhagra, and Irfan Saleem, were present during the unrest. The report was prepared following a request by Peshawar Police to authenticate video and audio-visual material related to the events.
The analysis showed that most videos were unedited. However, some clips contained added text and logos. In two specific videos featuring Sohail Afridi and Irfan Saleem, the forensic report detected signs of clip splicing.
The report confirmed the identities of the individuals through profile picture matching. Sohail Afridiโs profile image corresponded to the person seen in the May 9 footage. Similarly, Irfan Saleemโs profile photograph matched the individual in the video. Kamran Bangash and Taimur Saleem Jhagra were also positively identified through visual verification.
The forensic examination focused solely on visual material and was conducted between December 19 and 23, 2025. No additional evidence beyond the video verification was included in the report.
The investigation is part of the Radio Pakistan attack case, for which the Anti-Terrorism Court had requested police to submit findings. The footage provided by authorities was analyzed meticulously to confirm the identities of participants in the incidents.
Officials stated that the forensic report plays a key role in verifying evidence for ongoing investigations. It ensures that the identities of those present during the unrest are accurately confirmed and that any alterations or manipulations in the video material are identified.
This latest development underscores the importance of forensic examination in legal proceedings, providing reliable, evidence-based findings to aid law enforcement and judicial authorities.
