The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has started providing CNIC renewal and identity documentation services through selected e-sahulat franchises across Pakistan.
NADRA spokesperson Shabahat Ali Syed said these mini centres will help citizens access services faster, especially in areas with high foot traffic. Karachi, for example, continues to see heavy demand despite many existing NADRA centres.
The introduction of e-sahulat franchises aims to reduce the burden on main NADRA offices. Located in local neighbourhoods and marketplaces, these outlets allow citizens to renew CNICs or obtain new identity cards without visiting larger centres.
However, the spokesperson clarified that personal data amendments, such as updating addresses or other personal information, will not be available at these franchise outlets. Citizens requiring such changes must visit full-scale NADRA offices.
To raise awareness about the importance of timely registration of vital events, NADRA has partnered with Radio Pakistan. The initiative focuses on encouraging reporting of births, deaths, marriages, and divorces, which remain underreported compared to the actual occurrence of these events.
NADRA officials say the e-sahulat franchises are part of a broader strategy to make services more accessible to citizens, particularly in busy urban areas where long queues at main centres often delay processing.
The move is also expected to improve public satisfaction by providing a convenient option for identity card services closer to residential areas. Citizens can now complete key identity-related tasks without traveling long distances.
