Archaeologists have uncovered one of the largest ancient Roman cemeteries ever found in the United Kingdom. More than 300 graves were discovered during construction work in Cumbria, England. The find was made while widening a major road in the region.
The burial site was uncovered during excavation for a 33-kilometre road project. The work is part of plans to expand the A66 road. This road runs between Penrith and Scotch Corner. Construction teams began digging as part of the widening process.
