A tragic accident in Karachiโs Gulshan-e-Hadeed area left a motorcyclist couple severely affected on Friday. Nisar Ahmed, a resident of the locality, died on the spot after a dumper truck, reportedly coming from the wrong side, struck the motorcyclist couple. His wife sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Nisar Ahmed was returning home from a relativeโs house at the time of the accident. He is survived by six children, including three sons and three daughters. Police impounded the dumper, but the driver managed to escape the scene. Authorities have launched an investigation to apprehend the culprit.
Earlier this month, Karachi witnessed another tragic case when a young woman motorcyclist was killed in the Landhi area. The 26-year-old victim, Bushra, was hit by a 10-wheeler trailer near Hospital Chowrangi and pronounced dead at the scene. Police recovered the vehicle, but the driver fled the site.
The incidents highlight a worrying trend in Karachi, where heavy vehicles have increasingly caused fatal accidents. Roads in the city remain unsafe, with reckless driving and traffic congestion contributing to hundreds of deaths annually.
Rescue officials report that in the past 308 days alone, heavy vehicles have claimed 219 lives in Karachi, including men, women, and children. These statistics underscore the urgent need for strict road safety enforcement and measures to prevent such accidents.
Citizens and authorities are calling for stricter monitoring of heavy vehicles and safer road practices to protect vulnerable riders, including motorcyclists. The death of the motorcyclist couple once again brings attention to Karachiโs growing road safety crisis.
