The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a facility for citizens to apply for a divorce certificate through the Pak-ID mobile application. This initiative allows users to apply from home, removing the need for in-person visits to Union Councils.
With this update, citizens can now apply for birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates directly via the app. NADRA has also released an explanatory video demonstrating the step-by-step procedure for obtaining a divorce certificate.
According to NADRA, individuals who have legally completed the separation process must obtain a divorce certificate from their respective Union Council. Only those who already possess a manual certificate issued by the Arbitration Council or Union Council are eligible to apply through the app.
To apply, users must first download the Pak-ID app and register an account. After logging in, they select their province under the Provincial Civil Registration Services section and choose the โDivorceโ option.
Applicants then enter personal details, select โDivorceโ under the category, and check the payable fee based on provincial rules. They must select their spouse for removal from NADRA records and provide both partiesโ addresses. After reviewing the information and acknowledging declarations, users can pay the applicable fee and submit the application.
Once processed, NADRA registers the divorce with the relevant Union Council. Applicants can download their divorce certificate by navigating to the home screen, clicking โDownload,โ selecting โID Vault,โ then โMy Documents,โ and finally choosing โCRMS.โ
Currently, the service is available in all districts of Punjab, selected districts of Sindhโincluding Karachi East, Karachi Central, Naushahro Feroze, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana, Jamshoro, Tando Allahyar, and Tando Muhammad Khanโand Quetta in Balochistan.
NADRA confirmed that work is ongoing to expand the service nationwide, aiming to make the divorce certificate application accessible in all districts across Pakistan in the near future.
This digital facility is part of NADRAโs broader effort to modernize civil registration and provide citizens with convenient, paperless solutions.
