PDMA Issues Alert for Rain and Snowfall Across Punjab

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority PDMA Punjab has issued a new weather alert for the province. The warning includes more rain and snowfall over the next two days. The advisory will remain in effect from January 26 to January 27.

According to PDMA, rainfall is expected in most districts of Punjab. Major divisions likely to be affected include Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Multan, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur. Officials said all concerned departments are on 24-hour alert.

The authority urged citizens to remain cautious during this period. People were advised to follow instructions issued by local administrations. Emergency teams have also been directed to stay prepared for any situation.

Snowfall Expected in Northern Areas

The PDMA has also warned of snowfall in Murree, Galiyat, and other hilly regions. Heavy rain and snow are expected to continue in these areas over the next two days. Tourists visiting northern regions were advised to remain alert.

Officials asked visitors to cooperate with the local administration. They were also advised to avoid unnecessary travel during harsh weather. Emergency response teams are monitoring the situation closely.

Roads Cleared in Murree

Director General PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia said all roads in Murree have been cleared. He confirmed that traffic flow has returned to normal. According to officials, around 5.5 inches of snowfall was recorded last night. Total snowfall in Murree has now reached nearly 20 inches.

Punjab Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed said heavy snowfall was also reported in nearby areas. He stated that administration teams worked actively to manage traffic and clear roads. Officers remained present in the field to guide operations.

Authorities Remain on High Alert

Despite improved conditions, snowfall is still ongoing in some areas. The PDMA said the administration remains fully alert. Tourist safety remains a top priority.

Officials urged people to stay updated with weather reports. Citizens were also advised to avoid risky activities. In case of any emergency, people can contact the PDMA helpline at 1129.
