Federal Government Approves Rs1 Billion for Historical Drama on Jinnah and Iqbal

The federal government has approved a Rs1 billion budget for a historical drama series highlighting the lives of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Iqbal. The announcement was made during a National Assembly Standing Committee meeting chaired by Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar.

The drama will follow a narrative style similar to the popular Turkish series Ertugrul. Officials said the series aims to educate and inspire younger generations about the struggles and ideals of Pakistanโ€™s founding fathers, Jinnah and Iqbal.

The Iqbal Academy has already started interviewing descendants of Allama Muhammad Iqbal to ensure historical accuracy. Producers and writers are expected to collaborate closely with historians to depict the lives of Jinnah and Iqbal authentically.

The committee emphasized that the project is part of a broader effort to preserve Pakistanโ€™s cultural and historical heritage. Officials hope the series will instill patriotism and awareness of the countryโ€™s founding principles.

Meanwhile, other heritage projects face delays. The proposed National Museum near Shakarparian has stalled after most funds were withdrawn, leaving only Rs190 million available. Committee members said they would push for full restoration of the museumโ€™s funding from the Prime Minister.

The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) also reported financial difficulties after the Federal Board of Revenue recovered Rs2 billion. Committee members expressed concern over this deduction and summoned FBR officials for a briefing. They stressed that financial stability is crucial for protecting national religious and cultural sites.

The Standing Committee said the Rs1 billion allocation for the Jinnah and Iqbal drama demonstrates the governmentโ€™s commitment to promoting Pakistanโ€™s history through modern media. The production is expected to begin later this year, with public screenings planned for educational institutions nationwide.
