Pakistani Workers to Regain Jobs in Kuwait as Labour Ties Improve

Pakistan and Kuwait have agreed to strengthen labour cooperation, paving the way for Pakistani workers to regain jobs in Kuwait.

Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, met with Rabab Abdullah Al-Osaimi, Director-General of Kuwait’s Public Authority for Manpower (PAM), in Dubai. The meeting took place during the Abu Dhabi Dialogue 2026.

Officials discussed expanding cooperation, improving recruitment processes, and granting Pakistani workers easier access to Kuwait’s PAM portal. This portal manages jobs for expatriate workers and ensures transparent recruitment.

The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) regulates Kuwait’s labour market. It approves job placements for foreign workers and monitors employment conditions. The agreement between Pakistan and Kuwait aims to streamline these processes for Pakistani workers.

Both sides also agreed to draft a Labour Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU could be signed during the upcoming visit of Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Mishaal Al-Sabah to Pakistan. This step will formalize labour cooperation and make jobs more accessible for Pakistani citizens.

Chaudhry Salik emphasized the significant role Pakistani workers have played in Kuwait’s development, particularly in infrastructure and other key sectors. He described the workforce as essential for Kuwait’s future economic growth.

The officials also agreed to maintain regular consultations to institutionalize cooperation and strengthen labour ties between the two countries. The move is expected to provide thousands of Pakistani workers with safe and structured employment opportunities in Kuwait.
