ISLAMABAD: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was formally welcomed at the Prime Minister (PM) House in Islamabad on Wednesday during his official visit to Pakistan.
The ceremony included the playing of national anthems of both countries, followed by a guard of honour presented by a smartly turned-out contingent of Pakistanโs armed forces. PM Shehbaz Sharif personally received the visiting President, highlighting the strong ties between the two nations.
Earlier, a six-member squadron of Pakistan Air Force fighter jets performed a grand aerial salute as President Tokayev entered Pakistani airspace. The formation leader extended greetings on behalf of the PM and the people of Pakistan, showcasing the commitment of the armed forces to bilateral friendship.
PM Shehbaz Sharif and President Tokayev are scheduled to hold bilateral and delegation-level talks. The discussions are expected to focus on enhancing cooperation in trade, energy, defence, and technology. Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements across different sectors will also be signed to strengthen bilateral collaboration.
The visit underscores the long-standing brotherhood and strategic partnership between Pakistan and Kazakhstan. Officials said the PM emphasized mutual cooperation and pledged to support initiatives benefiting both countries.
