Authorities Order Shopkeepers To Close Markets By 4 PM

Mastung district police have issued a directive for traders to shut markets early until further notice due to a potential security threat. The move aims to prevent any untoward incidents in the districtโ€™s commercial areas.

Officials stated that commercial centres will operate only for limited hours. Market unions and trader representatives have been formally briefed about the instructions. The authorities emphasized that this step is temporary and focused on public safety.

The trader community has expressed concern over the directive to shut markets, requesting robust security arrangements to allow business activity to continue safely. Early closures have already impacted commercial operations, causing difficulties for both traders and residents.

The order comes after a major wave of coordinated terrorist attacks hit multiple districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Gwadar, Mastung, Noshki, Dalbandin, Kharan, and Pasni. The attacks involved gunmen and suicide bombers, prompting heightened security measures across the province.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said on Sunday that Pakistanโ€™s security forces had eliminated 145 terrorists following the attacks on Saturday. Addressing the media in Quetta, he stated that intelligence reports had indicated preparations for such attacks, and security forces responded swiftly and effectively.

Bugti assured the public that the government stands with the families of martyrs, pledging support for the welfare and upbringing of their children. He also stressed that measures to ensure public safety remain the governmentโ€™s top priority.

Authorities reiterated that residents should remain vigilant and follow official instructions. The directive to shut markets is expected to continue until the security situation stabilizes, and officials will review operations regularly to assess risk levels.

Residents and traders are urged to cooperate with law enforcement and report any suspicious activity. The government continues to monitor the situation closely and deploys additional forces where needed to protect public spaces and markets.
