PTI Leaders Declared Proclaimed Offenders in Haqeeqi Azadi March Cases

ISLAMABAD: A local court on Monday declared PTI leaders Ali Amin Gandapur and Omar Ayub as proclaimed offenders in two cases linked to the Haqeeqi Azadi March. The court issued perpetual arrest warrants against both leaders.

Senior Civil Judge Mubashir Hassan Chishti passed the orders while hearing the cases registered at Bara Kahu police station. The court noted that despite multiple summonses, Gandapur and Ayub failed to appear.

Earlier, the court had directed authorities to start proclaimed offender proceedings against Gandapur due to his repeated absence. Following non-compliance, both leaders were formally declared absconders. Authorities were ordered to arrest them immediately.

The cases relate to alleged violations during the Haqeeqi Azadi March, organized by PTI in November 2022 after the ouster of Imran Khanโ€™s government. Police had registered two separate FIRs against Gandapur and other PTI leaders at Bara Kahu police station.

The court also noted that PTI founder Imran Khan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Zartaj Gul, and other co-accused had already been acquitted in these cases.

Further proceedings in the cases have been adjourned until the accused are arrested. The court emphasized that law enforcement agencies must ensure compliance with its orders to maintain accountability.

These cases mark another development in ongoing legal scrutiny of PTI leaders following large-scale political protests. Analysts say the proceedings reflect the judiciaryโ€™s continued oversight of protests and political gatherings.

The Haqeeqi Azadi March cases have drawn significant media attention due to the involvement of prominent PTI figures. Observers believe the outcomes of these cases could influence future political activities by the party.
