Apple has officially released iOS 26.3 to all users. The update follows a short beta testing period during the holiday season.
This version is smaller than iOS 26.2. However, it brings an important change for cross-platform users. The main feature focuses on easier data transfer to Android devices.
Apple introduced a new option called “Transfer to Android.” It appears inside the Settings app. This tool was developed after an agreement with Google.
Users can place their iPhone next to a supported Android phone. The system then starts a direct transfer. It moves apps, photos, messages, and even the phone number.
The process is designed to be simple and quick. It does not require cables or extra software. This makes switching platforms easier than before.
However, Apple confirmed that some data cannot be moved. Health records are not included. Bluetooth connections also stay behind. Protected content will not transfer.
For newer devices, iOS 26.3 adds another useful feature. iPhones with C1 and C1X modems now offer better privacy. These modems use Apple’s custom silicon.
The update hides precise location details from network carriers. This reduces tracking risks. Carrier support is limited for now. Apple expects more carriers to support it later.
One feature did not make it to the final release. Early beta versions showed notification sharing for third-party smartwatches. This would have allowed non-Apple watches to receive iPhone alerts.
This feature was removed before launch. It would have disabled Apple Watch connectivity. Apple has not explained why it was dropped.
Despite fewer new features, the update improves user choice. The Android transfer tool may appeal to many users. It reflects Apple’s growing focus on openness.
How to Update iOS 26.3:
Users can update through the Settings app. Go to Settings, then General, then Software Update. The new version should appear there.
Those with Automatic Updates enabled do not need manual steps. The system will install the update overnight. The phone must be charging.
Apple recommends keeping devices updated. New versions often include security fixes and performance improvements.
