Jam Kamal Khan Announces Laptops for All Final-Batch 2nd Year Students at BRC Othal

Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan has announced the distribution of laptops to all second-year students of the final batch at Balochistan Residential College (BRC) Othal. The announcement was made during a meeting with students and faculty at the Pakistan Secretariat.

The students visited the minister’s office as part of their All Pakistan study tour. During the interactive session, Jam Kamal Khan said the laptops would help students build digital skills and prepare for future academic and career challenges.

He stressed that access to modern technology is essential for young people. According to the minister, laptops and digital tools can help students compete in a world driven by innovation and artificial intelligence.

Jam Kamal Khan also recalled the history of BRC Othal. He said the college was established by his late father, former Chief Minister Jam Mir Muhammad Yousaf, as a gift to the people of Lasbela. He described the institution as a symbol of empowerment for the youth of Balochistan.

During the discussion, the minister spoke about the fast-changing global technology landscape. He noted that mobile phones and modern devices can now perform tasks that once required multiple offices. He said these capabilities will continue to grow rapidly.

He warned that many traditional jobs may disappear in the coming years. He advised students to focus on future-oriented fields. These include agriculture, livestock, engineering, computer science, data centers, battery technology, power, and mining.

The minister also highlighted Balochistan’s rich mineral resources. He mentioned copper, gold, chromite, manganese, iron, and antimony as key materials for modern industries. He said proper use of these resources could transform the province’s economy.

Jam Kamal Khan stressed the importance of uninterrupted education. He told students that lost academic opportunities are difficult to recover. He also pointed to emerging fields such as biomedical sciences, neuroscience, and research.

He emphasized the need for modern facilities, including fibre optic connectivity and high-tech laboratories. He encouraged students to aim for leading institutions that combine research, industry, and technology.

The meeting ended with students thanking the minister for the laptop initiative. They said the laptops would help them prepare for a digital future.
