Google Integrates Lyria 3 Model Into Gemini for AI Music Generation

Google has announced the integration of its new Lyria 3 model into Gemini, enabling users to generate 30-second music tracks from simple text prompts. The feature will also power YouTubeโ€™s โ€œDream Trackโ€ option for Shorts.

Users can create music using basic prompts such as โ€œcomical R&B slow jamโ€ or customize tracks in detail by adjusting tempo, drumming styles, and mood. Geminiโ€™s Lyria 3 goes beyond text, allowing tracks to be generated from uploaded photos or videos.

In addition, Lyria 3 can pair music with AI-generated album art created using Googleโ€™s Nano Banana image model. The combination allows creators to produce visually and musically coordinated content efficiently.

According to Google, Lyria 3 represents a significant step forward in realistic, professional-grade AI music production. The model automates arrangements, instruments, and even lyric writing, though current clips are limited to 30 seconds. Feedback suggests AI-generated lyrics may sometimes lack natural flow, but instrumental quality is highly realistic.

All Lyria 3 outputs use Googleโ€™s SynthID watermarking for transparency. Users can identify tracks using the SynthID Detector, introduced at Google I/O 2025. This ensures authenticity and protects creators from misuse of AI-generated music.

The Lyria 3 feature is available globally to Gemini users aged 18 and older. It currently supports English, Spanish, German, French, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese prompts, making it accessible to a wide international audience.

Industry analysts say Googleโ€™s move reinforces its position as a leader in AI creativity. By combining music generation with visual art, the tech giant is offering new tools for content creators, expanding both Gemini and YouTubeโ€™s capabilities.
