Death Toll Rises to 148 After Iran Girls’ School Attack

The death toll from the airstrike on Shajareh Tayyebeh girls’ school in Minab, Iran, has risen to at least 148, with about 95 others wounded. Most of the victims were students, along with some teachers and parents. Rescue teams are continuing to search through the rubble.

Reports indicate that around 170 students were present when the strike hit. The building was largely destroyed, leaving debris and schoolbags scattered. Images of the aftermath circulated widely on social media, showing the scale of the damage.

Local prosecutors in Hormozgan province said the strike occurred during the first day of Israeli-US military operations targeting Iran. However, neither Israel nor the United States has confirmed responsibility. The Israeli military stated it was “not aware” of any strike on the school and emphasized that its operations are conducted with precision.

Iranian officials condemned the attack as a “war crime.” President Masoud called for full accountability and urged immediate support for the injured and bereaved families. The government stressed the need for urgent medical aid and psychological support for survivors.

Rights groups and independent observers verified through satellite imagery and videos that the damaged building matches the school in Minab. However, the exact sequence of events and which party carried out the strike remain unconfirmed.

As rescue operations continue, the death toll is expected to rise further. Hospitals in the area are working around the clock to treat the wounded, and emergency teams are coordinating efforts to recover trapped students and staff.

The tragic attack has drawn international attention, raising concerns over the safety of civilian and educational facilities in conflict zones. Humanitarian organizations have called for immediate measures to protect children and civilians from future attacks.
