China Urges Ceasefire as Middle East Conflict Enters Third Day

BEIJING โ€“ China has called for an immediate ceasefire as fighting in the Middle East continues into a third day. Beijing urged all sides to stop military operations and return to diplomatic talks.

Israel and the United States have been carrying out strikes in Iran and Lebanon. The conflict has also affected neighboring countries in the Gulf region. Tensions have risen sharply after recent attacks killed senior Iranian officials.

Speaking at a regular press conference, Chinaโ€™s foreign ministry said the top priority is to halt military action. The spokesperson stressed the need to prevent the conflict from spreading further. China urged all parties to resolve differences through dialogue and negotiation.

The ministry confirmed that one Chinese citizen was killed in Tehran during the ongoing strikes. Officials said the Chinese embassy in Iran has been instructed to assist the victimโ€™s family. No further details were shared about the incident.

China also stated that it was not informed in advance about the recent US military action. Beijing, along with Moscow, has called for an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council. The aim is to discuss steps to reduce tensions and restore stability.

Last week, China issued a travel warning advising its citizens to avoid visiting Iran due to security risks. Authorities confirmed that more than 3,000 Chinese nationals have already left Iran since the situation worsened.

Meanwhile, Iranโ€™s Revolutionary Guards have vowed a strong response against Israeli and US targets. Several Gulf countries hosting US bases are on high alert. The ongoing conflict has raised concerns about wider regional instability.

In a separate development, US President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit China from March 31 to April 2. The trip will mark his first visit to the country during his second term. When asked about the visit, the foreign ministry said both sides are maintaining communication regarding leader-level interactions.
