Three people were killed and 68 injured in the United Arab Emirates after debris from intercepted Ballistic Missiles damaged residential areas, officials said.
The UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed that 174 Iranian Ballistic Missiles were tracked during the attack. Out of these, 161 were destroyed by the country’s air defence systems. Thirteen missiles fell into the sea, according to the official statement.
Speaking at a press conference in Abu Dhabi, the ministry’s spokesman said that 172 missiles were successfully intercepted. He explained that most of the destroyed missiles fell into the sea. He stressed that no missile directly struck UAE soil. The damage reported in some areas was caused by falling debris.
The spokesman added that the defence system responded in time to intercept all incoming threats. He said the country would not compromise on its sovereignty. The UAE, he noted, remains committed to defending its territory at all costs.
In addition to the Ballistic Missiles, hundreds of drones were also launched. Officials said 689 Iranian drones were tracked. Of these, 645 were intercepted before entering UAE airspace. However, 44 drones managed to enter the country’s airspace. Eight cruise missiles were also destroyed during the operation.
Authorities said the casualties resulted from debris falling into populated areas. Several residential buildings sustained damage. Emergency teams responded quickly to affected neighborhoods. Injured individuals were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Officials emphasized that no missile made a direct impact on residential zones. Instead, fragments from destroyed missiles caused the reported destruction. Investigations are ongoing to assess the full extent of property damage.
The incident marks a major escalation in regional tensions. The large number of Ballistic Missiles and drones highlights the scale of the attack. The UAE government has assured citizens that its defence systems remain fully operational and prepared for further threats.
