Students and parents across Punjab should prepare for a revised daily schedule from August 24. The Punjab School Education Department has announced new School Timings for public and private institutions across the province.
The revised schedule will take effect from August 24, 2026. It covers single-shift, double-shift, and afternoon schools across Punjab.
According to the notification, schools will operate from Monday to Friday under the new schedule.
New Timings for Single-Shift Schools
Single-shift schools will open at 8:00am from Monday to Thursday. Classes will continue until 1:30pm.
Friday will have shorter hours. Schools will operate from 8:00am until 12:45pm.
The revised School Timings will remain applicable until October 15, 2026.
Double-Shift School Schedule
The department has announced separate hours for schools operating two shifts.
The morning shift will start at 8:00am from Monday to Thursday. It will end at 12:30pm.
On Friday, the morning shift will operate from 8:00am until 12 noon.
The evening shift will begin at 1:00pm from Monday to Thursday. Classes will finish at 5:30pm.
Friday’s evening shift will start at 2:00pm and end at 5:30pm.

Special Adjustment for Girls’ Schools
The notification also provides a 15-minute adjustment for girls’ schools.
Girls’ schools will normally open 15 minutes earlier than boys’ schools. They will also close 15 minutes earlier.
However, Chief Executive Officers of District Education Authorities can modify this difference according to local needs.
Saturday to Remain a Holiday
Saturday will continue to be a holiday for government schools across Punjab.
The School Education Department has instructed district education authorities to ensure proper implementation of the schedule.
The new School Timings come as schools prepare to resume regular operations from August 24.
