The arrest of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case has sparked condemnation from millions of ordinary citizens and celebrities alike. Despite Khan urging his supporters to protest peacefully, there have been no reports of riots or unrest on the streets, as he continues to receive widespread support from all across Pakistan.
Recently, Shahid Afridi’s wife, Nadia Afridi, and his son-in-law, Shaheen Shah Afridi, expressed solidarity with Khan through their social media platforms. Nadia shared an image of Khan’s political party PTI’s flag, while Shaheen changed his Twitter profile picture to black.

Khan was apprehended by the police in Lahore after a trial court found him guilty of illegally selling state gifts, misusing his position as prime minister between 2018 and 2022. The court sentenced him to three years in prison and imposed a fine of 100,000 Pakistani rupees ($355), with the possibility of an additional six months of incarceration if the fine remains unpaid. The state-owned gifts sold during foreign visits amounted to over 140 million Pakistani rupees ($635,000).
