Pakistan Accuses India of Backing TTP Amid Cross-Border Tensions

Pakistan has strongly accused India of backing TTP and other militant groups in Afghanistan. The allegations come amid ongoing Operation Ghazab lil-Haq.

The operation, launched in late February, targets terrorist hideouts and logistical bases inside Afghan territory. Pakistanโ€™s Foreign Office said the strikes are lawful and precise, aimed only at militants.

Tensions rose after Indiaโ€™s Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, claimed Pakistani strikes caused civilian casualties. He called the operation an โ€œact of aggression.โ€ Pakistan rejected this, calling the accusations baseless and hypocritical.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said India has been backing TTP and other insurgent networks from Afghan soil. He claimed groups operating in Balochistan and along the border have received support from New Delhi. Andrabi said Indiaโ€™s criticism reflects frustration over Pakistanโ€™s efforts to dismantle these networks.

Pakistanโ€™s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, also criticised India during a Security Council debate on Afghanistan on March 10. Ahmad alleged that Indiaโ€™s policies aim to destabilize Pakistan through militant support. He named the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and Baloch Liberation Army as major threats allegedly aided by India.

The Foreign Office further accused India of violating international law, human rights, and UN resolutions, citing issues in Jammu and Kashmir. Islamabad said Indiaโ€™s policies marginalize minorities and promote regional instability.

Pakistan urged New Delhi to stop making unfounded allegations and focus on halting actions that fuel terrorism across the Afghan border. Islamabad reaffirmed its right to protect its citizens in line with international law.

The repeated claims of backing TTP have escalated diplomatic tensions between the two rivals. Analysts say this dispute adds to the already volatile security situation in the region. Pakistan has vowed to continue its operations until threats to national security are neutralized.

The standoff highlights the fragile dynamics between Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan. Both sides have called for international attention, but no resolution has been reached so far. Pakistan continues to assert that its military actions are defensive and legally justified.
