Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi has said he will work to bring more opportunities for young people in the province. He made the remarks during his first press conference after assuming office in Karachi.
During the media talk, Nehal Hashmi explained that he is not an elected official but a constitutional governor. He said the position carries responsibility rather than privilege.
The governor stated that his duty is to represent all citizens of Sindh. He added that he would serve people living in both urban and rural areas of the province.
According to Nehal Hashmi, the governor’s office should work for every community and every child in Sindh. He also prayed that he would be able to perform his responsibilities with honesty and fairness.
A key part of the governor’s plan focuses on youth development. Nehal Hashmi said the federal government aims to expand job and education opportunities for young people in the province.
He announced that the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) will soon be introduced in Sindh. The programme already operates in other parts of the country and provides support to students and young professionals.
While speaking to reporters, Nehal Hashmi said he had already discussed the initiative with PMYP Sindh Coordinator Fahad Shafiq. He emphasized that youth in Sindh should receive the same employment, education, and training opportunities available elsewhere.
The governor added that the initiative would not be limited to computer training alone. Instead, it would include a broader educational framework designed to support skills development and learning.
He also assured that certificates and academic degrees would be issued within their scheduled timelines. According to the governor, timely recognition of education is important for students’ professional growth.
In addition to youth initiatives, Nehal Hashmi announced a welfare measure during the holy month of Ramadan. He said free Sehri and Iftar meals will be provided at the Governor House for deserving people starting Monday.
He clarified that the initiative is not linked to any political party. Instead, he described it as a service for the people of Pakistan.
During the press conference, the governor also spoke about responsible public discourse. Nehal Hashmi said citizens are free to express opinions about him personally.
However, he requested that people avoid speaking negatively about Pakistan, Sindh, or the city of Karachi. He stressed that criticism should remain constructive and respectful.
The governor also mentioned Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir. Nehal Hashmi said the military leader comes from a family where patriotism and dedication are valued.
