Karachiโs motorbike riders are reportedly defeating the e-challan system, says DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah. The cityโs top traffic official revealed that riders are using tricks to avoid fines and penalties.
DIG Traffic Karachi explained that a survey showed nearly 100 percent of motorcyclists were bypassing the e-challan system. Many riders either removed number plates, covered them, or used fake addresses.
โIn a sample of 100 motorcycles, over 70 percent had no number plates, and more than 20 percent had plates obscured with tricks,โ said Pir Muhammad Shah. โEven readable plates often had wrong addresses.โ
The e-challan system, designed to enforce traffic rules and improve road safety, is facing serious challenges due to these evasive tactics. Traffic authorities say the misuse of the system undermines its purpose of controlling violations effectively.
The DIG confirmed that a major operation against these violators will take place after Eid ul Fitr. This crackdown is being launched under the orders of IG Police Sindh to enforce compliance with traffic laws strictly.
โMotorbike riders who have been avoiding the e-challan system will face strict action,โ added the DIG. Authorities hope that the operation will restore order and reduce law violations across Karachi.
Traffic experts say that while the e-challan system has modernized enforcement, awareness and strict monitoring are essential to prevent misuse. Citizens are urged to follow traffic rules and support authorities in ensuring road safety.
This initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen traffic management in Karachi, including increased monitoring of motorcycles, cars, and commercial vehicles. Officials are confident that the post-Eid operation will send a clear message to violators attempting to exploit loopholes in the e-challan system.
