Military Operations Intensify in Middle East as Iran, US, and Israel Clash

Recent military operations in the Middle East have escalated tensions as Iran, the United States, and Israel continue targeting key sites. Iran fired two intermediate-range ballistic missiles at Diego Garcia, though the US-UK military base was not hit. One missile reportedly failed, while a US warship fired an SM-3 interceptor at the other, though its success is unclear.

Israel expanded military operations on Saturday, striking Hezbollah positions in Beirut. Authorities issued evacuation warnings for seven southern neighborhoods in advance. Over 1,000 people have been killed and more than one million displaced in Lebanon since the conflict began in late February.

Airstrikes have also targeted Iran, including Tehran and central areas, where weapons facilities and missile storage sites were attacked. Iranian missiles struck near Jerusalem, triggering air raid sirens, but there were no casualties. The Israeli military reported multiple waves of missile launches from Iran, intensifying regional instability.

The Iran war has disrupted vital energy infrastructure across the Gulf. Oil prices have surged by about 50% since the start of military operations on February 28. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route for one-fifth of global oil, has been effectively closed. The US has temporarily waived sanctions on 140 million barrels of Iranian oil stranded on tankers to stabilize supply.

US President Donald Trump said the United States may โ€œwind downโ€ military operations but is not seeking a ceasefire with Iran. The US is deploying 2,500 Marines and warships to the Middle East. Officials say there is no final decision on deploying troops directly into Iran, though Iranian coastal facilities and Kharg Island remain potential targets.

Meanwhile, Iranโ€™s Revolutionary Guards reported attacks on Haifa, Tel Aviv, and US bases using missiles and drones. The semi-official Tasnim news agency confirmed the killing of intelligence minister Esmail Ahmadi, one of several high-profile leaders targeted.

The military operations have raised global concern, with Americans worried the war could expand further. Oil disruptions, casualties, and ongoing airstrikes highlight the fragile security situation in the region.

Overall, military operations in the Middle East continue to escalate, involving Iran, Israel, and the US, with both human and economic impacts expected to rise.
