Trump Threatens Strong Action as Iran War Escalates, US and Allies Brace

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump threatens harsher strikes on Iran if Tehran does not end hostilities, amid a growing Iran war.

Trump, speaking at an event in Washington, said Iranian leaders โ€œwant to make a deal so badlyโ€ but are afraid of internal reprisals and US action. He emphasized that failure to recognize reality could lead to unprecedented military measures, warning that โ€œTrump threatens to hit them harder than ever before.โ€

Iranian officials, however, rejected claims of negotiations. Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that Tehran is exchanging messages through intermediaries, but there are no formal talks. โ€œWe do not intend to negotiate. The war will end on our terms,โ€ Araqchi said.

The conflict has intensified across the region. Iran has targeted Israeli-linked facilities, US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, and other strategic sites using missiles and drones. Israel and the United States continue airstrikes against Iranian infrastructure, while Tehran warns of โ€œpowerful strikesโ€ on any advancing US fleet.

Trump threatens further escalation while keeping diplomatic options open. The White House indicated a temporary pause on strikes against energy infrastructure to allow for potential talks, while reinforcing the US military presence in the Gulf. Thousands of additional troops are reportedly being deployed, giving Trump more options for a possible ground operation.

The Iran war has global repercussions. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical oil route, is effectively closed at times, causing worldwide fuel shortages and disrupted supply chains. Businesses, airlines, and farmers face rising costs, while millions risk hunger if the conflict continues.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called the situation โ€œout of controlโ€ and urged all sides to pursue diplomacy. However, tensions remain high as missiles, drones, and airstrikes continue across the Gulf.
